Is Carbuncle a dog in Final Fantasy XI? What does it even mean if Carbuncle is a dog? Maybe it’s a sort of fox? Wherever you place the little glowing guy on the dog spectrum, he’s still one of your opponents in this month’s Ambuscade division. But the Ambuscade UI has also been overhauled, so although you may be debating over whether or not Carbuncle should count as a dog, at least you won’t have to deal with seeing hallmark items you’ve already obtained from the cumulative list.
This patch also changes a few Iridal Staff requirements for job-specific weapons into the far more easily acquired Ice, Light, and Dark Staves, and it adds the fourth set of objectives for the anniversary celebration to the Records of Eminence menu. None of this will help you sort out the Carbuncle issue, but it’ll still be fun.
Of course, there shouldn’t be a Carbuncle issue, because Carbuncle is very clearly a radioactive fox-squirrel hybrid. Which is probably not a dog.
