Bluehole has been rolling out plenty of Ascent: Infinite Realm teasers over the last couple of weeks. Today’s concept art reveal features armor for the Mystics (crowd-control DPSers), Elementalists (ice and fire mages) and Warlords (heavy-plate tanks – obviously, when you meet one of these ladies, aim for the inexplicably exposed leg artery, duh). Classes aren’t gender-locked, by the way.
“One reappearing question since the first A:IR announcement has been the query if all classes can be played as male and female characters. The answer has always been ‘Yes’ and today we are able to back this up with concept art for the Mystic and Warlord class.”
We first learned the game was coming westward – indeed, with a western focus – in November of last year, when Kakao announced it was acting as the western publisher for Bluehole and the studios took the veil off what was formerly codenamed Project M. Both companies seem to have high hopes for the RVR steampunk-fantasy open-world MMORPG; Bluehole has talked about meeting the desire for AAA MMORPGs in the west, while Kakao, which also publishes Black Desert in the west for Pearl Abyss, sees BDO and A:IR as the gateway to successful international development.
Take a peek at all our A:IR coverage so far, including the last couple of teasers:

The male mystic for instance, features a outfit inspired by miltitary uniforms to show that he's not just a healer but also a powerfull combatant in his own right. pic.twitter.com/D960McPgcJ

The link for “Today’s concept art reveal features armor ” goes to a Citadel: Forged With Fire Server Wipe notice.
I’m really excited to see the Mystic as a healer / crowd control / DPSer. That’s all my favorite roles wound up into one class. Just missing a pet!
It’s also great news to hear there won’t be gender-locked classes. When A:IR first came on the scene, they said classes would be gender-locked and you could almost hear a collective groan as players turned away from the game. It’s definitely one of the most disappointing things about BDO. So yes, this makes me so happy!
Right now, A:IR is the one I have a view toward that might pull my attention away from BDO.
P.S. The links in the article take you to Citadel, not A:IR.
Yep, leggings and heels for the girls again. Somehow the lack of the bat and 2 balls equates balancing oneself on ridiculously dainty footwear as though they are military grade combat boots…
…so now out with the gender locking, how about something more gender neutral and practical in the attire department, please? And thnkx!
Pretty much word-for-word my thoughts.
Don’t forget to throw in the boob plate with a mandatory cleavage window, too. Oh yeah, and thigh exposure on a “heavy armor” outfit. Heh.
Personally I don’t so much the ecchi’ness of it all, just the impractical’ness that is heavily focused on the one sex. /bleh
Y’know, it’s funny. I was looking at that last picture and thinking “hey, that outfit’s pretty darn cool for the ladies! Glad there will be some non-ridiculous options for ’em”.
Then I read the caption and it says it was a guy.
But gender neutral and practical isn’t attractive. As a girl I want to like what my character is wearing and your suggestions frankly sound terrible. I can look stylish and appropriate without looking like a man.
It would be nice that each of us could have those choices. Instead of been given some outfit that we wouldn’t be caught dead in for the upgrade.
And i want several clothing pieces that actually protect anything.
Options.
Steampunk variant of ‘Chainmail bikini’ not so good, AAA MMO good.
Nothing says “tank” to me quite like buying a “sexy cop” outfit from a crappy halloween store.
Apparently, his only point of reference for cops is Caitlyn from League of Legends.
So the ppl who gender locked TERa saying they won’t do it for AIr , i’ll believe it when i see it
*holds football*
It’s different this time Charlie Brown.
LIES
I see a monkey playing Bless Online.
Bluehole? That’s seriously the name of the company?
Yes. The people that brought us TERA and PUBG.
I assume it’s like the blue holes of Bermuda… and not some weird reference to orifices
It’s just not steampunk without push-up corsets.
That and this is the same comp that brought us Tera and lingerarmor.
I’m fine with it in Tera cause outside of Baraka most folks don’t wear much., male or female
In AIR though it looks like only the women get shorted on clothes.
Either objectify equally or don’t objectify at all!
*shame fingers
Equal opportunity fanservice is the best fanservice.
After the Bless fiasco, Im not going anywhere near any mmorpg thats still using the Unreal 3 engine.
Eh, it runs Tera and DCUO as well and those mostly run fine. Even if the engine isn’t designed for MMO’s and hasn’t been supported in years, it’s not the engines fault that Neowiz shit the bed.
No appreciation for some top quality zettai ryouiki? : P
THAT’S THE WORD I WAS LOOKING FOR.
Zettai Ryouiki. The space between the hem of the skirt and the legging.
Oh Japan, never change.
Zettai means “absolute” I thinks…however, it’s inexplicably also used to describe that. Perhaps they have their own dubious corner on internet memes. /le sigh
iirc it’s something like “zone of absolute domination”
basically a reference to how it controls where the victim is looking/thinking.
other fun fact: it’s actually more effective if LESS skin is showing, so this is pretty low-tier.
WIERD INTERNET FACTS YAY o/
