Defiance 2050 launches new Crusader class with its next update on October 15th

You can apparently touch this.

The next major update for Defiance 2050 is dubbed Trouble in Paradise, and among its additions is a new class for whom it is always hammer time. The new Crusader features other abilities too, but it’s the summonable hammer for melee conflicts that really sets this particular bruiser apart. Solve all of your problems with a hammer and never have the same problem twice! What’s not to love?

For those of you who don’t feel like using a hammer to smash everything that troubles you in the game’s setting (maybe you had some hammer-related trauma) there’s still plenty to do in the update; players will face off against the Grid, an enemy born of the Ego implants with a mysterious agenda. Players who already own the “ultimate” edition of the game will get the new class for free, but everyone will be able to take part in the new content; check out some screenshots of the new class below, and get ready for the update itself on October 15th.

Looks like they photoshopped Batman with a hammer into the pictures… like he’s waiting for Superman to come by so he can ambush him.

Probably one of the least appealing mmo’s i’ve ever tried.

Does your car still blow up the second you accidentally clip a bad guy? Cool? I’ll pass.

Still blows up when you hit a chicken.

2050 had the exact—exact—same bugs at launch that the original Defiance had. Trion knew it before launch, knows how to fix them and still hasn’t patched in nearly two months.

I mean … that’s just ridiculous. I even got this thing on Xbox One when it launched with one of the starter packs. I should have honestly known better. Trion’s a joke and shame on me for not remembering how garbage their games were.

% Gain… I love how optimistic that graph is.

So aptly named.

I normally love class adaptations, but this one seems so out of place, that i can’t get behind it.

I’m sure the 80-100 people still playing Defiance 2050 will love it enough to pay to unlock it.

That’s not new content. It’s old Defiance content that they held back from the 2050 release so they could do this exact thing right here: release it later and have people think it’s new content.

That’s going to happen again and again. They’re going to recycle all the old Defiance events and call it “new content” each time. Defiance 2050 is such a pooshow cash grab, it really makes me sick.

I should just ignore when I see any news updates about it, which I’ll probably learn to do eventually, but that the title exists irks me so much that I stop in to see what they’re saying anyway.

Yeah. It is very reminiscent of The Secret World Legends, but in that case there was enough people who loved the old game to have faith to overlook the red flags. While funcom made some new content since it rehashed the old content, it lacks the speed or depth that people had thought it would have.

I give Funcom a bit of a pass on that because they started the trend (or at least this current iteration of it) of changing a core game system, calling it a new game and reselling it—and because I have a much higher opinion of Funcom overall than I do of Trion. Fuck Trion.
