Final Fantasy XIV prepares for this year’s ghostly All Saints’ Wake

Spooooooopy

It’s time to get thoroughly spooked out in Final Fantasy XIV as All Saints’ Wake returns once again. This year is even more spooky than normal, to boot; players will be able to pick up two adorably spectral minions, sure to delight anyone with a dedication to the aesthetics of this season. But in order to get those minions, you’ll first have to clear the haunted masquerade at the heart of the demonic Continental Circus!

Sure, that isn’t actually all that intimidating because the Continental Circus has a plot to let through armies of Voidsent every single year and none of them actually work out, if for no other reason than it would be odd for the world to end as part of a holiday event. But there is most definitely a new masquerade for players to experience, so get ready to see what horrors (or intended horrors) are on display when the event kicks off on October 18th. It’s very spooky.

For as successful as FFXIV appears to be, and how they’re burning the candle at both ends with a sub, paid companionship app, and increasingly-more-expensive cash shop, it’s surprising we’re getting such uninspiring event items.

Hopefully, they’re holding something back as a surprise?

Even diehards over here find it getting to be egregious but we are not their domestic market and Japan loves their “time saving funpay minibuys” so they are here to stay.
Maybe if the game were region locked we would get a western version where its all in game grinds over wallet gouging but for once being region free means we all suffer from the whale economy.

You clearly don’t play the game if you claim it’s not full of in-game grinds. Wallet gouging? Gimme a break…

Actually, his entry into today’s Daily Grind suggest he is a big fan of FF XIV. Thus he most likely plays the game…just not a big fan of how one acquires items ingame, for right or wrong.

His statement in THIS aricle says otherwise. FFXIV is all about in-game grinds. There is no fast track easy store bought option to alleviate those grinds so his wallet gouging comment makes no sense.

As I said, “…for right or wrong”. But you can’t gage if someone is playing a game or not by the incorrect things they say about it. If that where the case, most of the WoW fanbase would be made of armchair players. o.O

Fair point :)

It’s basically always the same thing except sometimes the reward is a costume, sometimes it’s a pet, or sometimes it’s a mount. Maybe an Orchestrion Roll gets thrown in too.

I guess the nice thing is that at least the story is different for each holiday, and sometimes there can be some whacky hijinks or whatever, but it’s usually always the same cut/dry formula with maybe an instanced piece of content or special FATE thrown in.

And then all the previous years’ items get thrown in the Mogstation for $$$ with no way to obtain them again otherwise.

You can reclaim seasonal rewards from an NPC vendor in-game.
