The Archer may not be dropping with the Drieghan expansion, but it is very much on the way to Black Desert. Ahead of TwitchCon this week, Pearl Abyss has released a new trailer for the class, which will be playable “for the first time” at the event, alongside the expansion as well as the “latest playable Xbox One and mobile builds.”

“The long-awaited Archer class, previously known as the male ranger, has been a much requested character by the Black Desert Online community since the game’s launch back in 2016. This versatile new Archer will be as unique in terms of appearance and combat skills as the other 16 classes that are already available in-game. The Archer uses his Crossbow for his stylish ranged attack and skill combos. In addition, the Archer has an assortment of magic skills at his disposal that assist him in combat by upsetting the opponents’ balance, and wreak havoc by unleashing a flurry of arrows with his Crossbow from afar. He is never flustered nor disoriented even in the thick of the battle. The Archer can easily escape without breaking a sweat even when he is outnumbered by countless foes. This brand new male class is set to receive a rich storyline in which its background will be fully explored when he gets added to the current roster of available characters.”

Enjoy!

BDO is such a frustrating game. Could easily be one of the greatest MMOs ever… except for its miserable progression system and huge P2W issues. Whenever I see new BDO material, I have to like *force* myself not to return.

It’s nice to see a male class being released.

Trailers don’t do much for me, but looking forward to the Twitchcon reveal of the class on Friday. Few inside sources say it’s not a dud of a class and I find that interesting.

Like the look of the weapons. They’ve been hinting at the return of the male elves for years, so should be interesting.

Still a trash game, please stop covering this game.

Just a way to make people spend 100€ or more in a new character to make it viable. Nothing more.

The game won’t be better with that. if you quit, don’t look back!

While I’m first to be critical about the game’s new P2W mechanics you at no point need $100 to make a new character viable.

Through in game means there’s the ability to get up to around 60ish inventory slots through quests. This is more than enough for most grind spots in the game. Equally numerous areas in the game have had their trash loot weight reduced to 0.1 from 0.3 which vastly reduces the trips back to town (and realistically can be infinitely stacked on a horse). Things like costumes can absolutely be bought off the marketplace (I’ve purchased over 15+ over time for all my characters) for silver especially new, popular classes.

Pretty much everything else is account wide or 100% optional. If you spend $100 on a new character, it’s really your own fault these days for being a fool with your own money.

Costumes on the marketplace ???
Hahahahahahhahahahahhaha

Yeah good luck with that bud, hope you like camping it for 3 weeks straight without sleep with all those other nerds waiting for that 1 costume to go up.

Same with pets…

And now with these delicious P2W disenchanting from costumes it became even harder.

This is not how an mmo game should be played as its just so bad for the genre.

You are better off playing the private server wich is ridiculous but hey at least you get more value for your money and tons of free stuff and events that give you alot of stuff.

I am tired of good games being strangled to death unless you keep pulling your wallet over and over instead off 1 subscription like the old days.

This might be the sole reason this whole genre is dying as good mmo’s are being counted on 3 fingers.

Uhm … Set up an alert on what you want and you will get it eventually.

I think it took 4 days before I got that Kitty armor for my Tamer.

Took me a few weeks for that one but same. I have almost all the Wizard costumes and I’ve only ever bought one for cash. Just time and patience.

I’m with Arktouros. I’ve purchased many costumes on the marketplace. I loathe their P2W systems. Heck, a lot of their systems are Pay to Gamble to Win.

You can get costumes off of the marketplace though.

Again, I’ve actually purchased over 15 costumes purely from the marketplace since the system came out. I’ve even managed to get one post P2W changes as well.

It sounds like you have a lot of self control issues when it comes to games and cash shop. Just because a game sells something doesn’t mean you have to buy it. You’re going to have to learn how to navigate the waters of a luxury market.

The reason why the genre is dying is because development wise MMOs are terrible investments. The playerbase argues for things like subscriptions but then says things like “vote with your wallet” and mass cancels subscriptions. If a developer uses a cash shop model you instead get rants about how greedy and bad the developers are today. Who the fuck wants to design a game for that playerbase where anything less than perfection is unacceptable?
