One of the biggest endeavors in Path of Exile’s recent Synthesis expansion was making massive rebalancing adjustments to the game’s spells, and Grinding Gear Games has announced that melee combat will be receiving a similarly extensive tune-up in the game’s 3.7.0 expansion, coming this June. According to a recent dev post, the changes are planned to address criticisms that Path of Exile’s melee combat is “clunky.” To that end, the devs are “making various experimental changes to the animation system that should help resolve these concerns and really tighten up the feel of melee combat.”
On top of making improvements to the animation system, the devs are also “experimenting with changes to systems such as accuracy, melee splash, leech, fortify, various Ascendancy classes, the passive tree, hit/miss feedback, melee base types, movement skills and melee damage availability on items.” Of course, the details are vague right now, as the changes haven’t been cemented yet, but the devs say that players can expect to hear more about the incoming changes “in the coming weeks,” particularly after the 3.7.0 expansion is announced in May.Late last year, we started introducing a new series of maps from the Betrayal release onwards.
