Time marches on, and it seems only appropriate that you cannot spend your time playing a futurist-looking science fiction series like Star Trek Online on the same technology forever. The title has announced that as of July 21st, support for 32-bit computers will be dropped; you’ll need to use a 64-bit computer past that date. As 64-bit versions of games and software have become increasingly common over the past several years, this will likely come as no real shock to most users, but those with older computers will need to upgrade in the next couple of months.

Meanwhile, the game has come down for maintenance today to apply a patch with various balance tweaks and bug fixes; that’s not related to client support, but it should make the game a bit smoother for players. Considering that players are also being tasked with fighting back against the Borg for a weekend event, smoother is always better.
