Star Citizen begins early testing for alpha 3.5.1, answers Tumbril Ranger questions, and shows off plants

Hi friends! Would you like to hear more about Star Citizen stuff? Of course you would! And if you don’t, make sure to tell us to stop covering it in the comments; we’re totally listening!

A leaky information faucet has drip-drip-dripped some early details about the next alpha build for Star Citizen, offering those of us not counted among the Evocati testers a cursory glimpse at what’s coming to the game. As one would expect given the patch’s numbering, there aren’t a lot of big-ticket items in the leaked patch notes. That said, there are a wide number of bug fixes that will very likely give Star Citizen fans reason to smile, including fixing missile damage, several mission bugs, and various odd door and lift behaviors for several of the game’s internet spaceships.

On the more officially announced side of things, players curious about the Tumbril Ranger motorcycle can now have a number of their questions answered. Among the offered answers is confirmation that the Ranger will have advantages over hoverbikes in some areas, such as a lower energy signature and the ability to work on planets that have hazards that prevent hoverbikes from functioning once said hazards are implemented. There’s also confirmation that certain clothing will increase or decrease your character’s inventory space. Most importantly, however, is confirmation that you should be able to perform wheelies.

Finally, another episode of Inside Star Citizen has been posted online. This week, it’s all about the Origin 300 variants, a look at the creation and implementation of various ship components, and a first look at the plant life that will be visible in the New Babbage landing zone of the upcoming Microtech planet. That video is embedded below.

Some of the videos here look nice for this game but I doubt CIG can finish it without investment from non crowdfunded sources so it makes me wonder how much that will diminish what has been promised to backers .

i thought the nicest part of the vid was the customization options bit but remains to be seen how the customization is handled either in game or via website and relevant details like costs of recustomization both near and short term. but i absolutely cannot wait to see this stuff come to more ships!

interesting bits of my adventures this week include this bit, which will be of note to the observant player all what’s going on here to make the fps feel like i’m playing 3.2

i went on a late night adventure with green friends snelly and atomik and it was pretty fun. wish i was recording voice but i don’t anymore sadly

and i decided to spend some time relaxing on a quick delivery for the ling delivery company as well as test beds again (spoiler alert, the bed didn’t work this time QQ)

waiting patiently on that funky fresh 3.5.1 and the delicious fixes in the notes so far to pan out in more than patch notes hopefully ✌

anyways keep space trekkin out there kids, and remember space heroes say no to neon!

i should probably note that the customization bit is the only part of the video i’ve seen. and having seen it felt it must be the best part of the weekly spam and left the rest to do it’s thing.

sounds like the 300i variants and associated stuff is done. dunno if the customization is also in evocati yet but i believe the variants all are flyable in it.
