If you’ve been keeping a finger on the pulse of the Guild Wars 2 community the last month or so, you know there’s been a tremendous amount of unrest over the influx of small changes and events and promos and cash shop sales – and the lack of information about upcoming content. Specifically, folks want to know more about the fifth season of living story content that ArenaNet has promised is on the way (but about which everyone’s still nervous because, you know, the layoffs).
Anyway, it sounds as if ArenaNet might be tired of dealing with all the moaning about content droughts and maintenance mode (sigh), and it’s just announced an event for an announcement. A real-world event in Seattle. Yes, it’ll be streamed, though folks who attend in person will get swag.
“Are you ready to catch the very first look at an all-new chapter in Guild Wars 2’s Living World story? Join us at the Moore Theatre in Seattle, Washington, on Friday, 30 August at 4:00 p.m. UTC (9:00 a.m. Pacific Time) and be a part of the excitement live. If you can’t attend in person, we’ll livestream the announcement with a developer presentation and more on our official Twitch, YouTube, and Facebook channels. The event will run for approximately forty-five minutes, so you can kick off your PAX West weekend with all your Guild Wars 2 friends! Attendance is first come, first served, with no entry fee or ticket required. Grab your seat early—the first five hundred attendees will get a Guild Wars 2 swag bag with fun surprises inside. We’ll see you there!”
ArenaNet doesn’t expressly mention PAX, but in case you’re wondering, yes, August 30th is the first full day of PAX West in Seattle this year, so the timing seems intentional. Let the speculation begin!
