At the tail end of this summer, ArenaNet revealed that it was changing up Guild Wars 2’s content cadence by ditching the “seasonal” content delivery system and swapping to a “saga” system that would allow larger and smaller episodes instead of requiring a more regimented storytelling structure. The first leg of the saga rolled out in September in the form of the Bound by Blood prelude. And now, we’re getting the first big episode in the Icebrood Saga, as Whisper in the Dark is launching today.
As we’ve previously noted, in addition to the spooky new story, players can expect rock-paper-scissors mastery mechanics, the new Bjora Marches map, the Ancient Boreal weapon set, and three bosses for the rotating strike missions.
“Like all Living World episodes, Whisper in the Dark will be free for all players who own Guild Wars 2: Path of Fire,” ArenaNet reminds us, so make sure you log in and “claim” the episode even if you’re not going to play it right now.
Stay tuned for our first peek into the expansion when our Flameseeker Chronicles on the episode is up later tomorrow!
