Check out the trailer for next week’s Guild Wars 2 episode, Whisper in the Dark

Next week is poised to be a big one for Guild Wars 2, as the first full episode of the current Icebrood Saga is set to drop on November 19th as teased. It’s called Whisper in the Dark, and it’s just gotten a pretty spooky trailer, one that might’ve made more sense for Halloween, but we’re here for it anyway.

“Venture deeper into the Far Shiverpeaks where you and your allies must stand together against the storm and face terrors that will leave you frozen in fear,” ArenaNet promises. The video teases the new Bjora Marches map, the Raven Attunement and Essence Manipulation masteries (there are apparently two more beyond these two), the Ancient Boreal weapon set and “Raven-inspired exotic scepter skin,” three bosses for the rotating strike missions, and of course, a bit of nostalgic flair as it’s all set in a classic Guild Wars setting. My favorite part? ArenaNet is promising “a campfire s’mores roasting kit.”

“In the distant reaches of the Northern Shiverpeaks, hunters stalk the long night. Whispers scratch at the minds of the Kodan and Norn who call these rugged mountains home, while sightings abound of an antlered beast dragging unsuspecting victims into the trees. As the Commander chases charr Imperator Bangar Ruinbringer deep into the mountains to stop him from trying to awaken the Elder Dragon Jormag, players will discover that one of the Vigil’s most distant mountain watch posts has been attacked and its inhabitants slaughtered, leaving none alive. What lurking foes have yet to reveal themselves?”

Enjoy!

Nice. I like the darker theme.

I feared that they would stick with the old assets, therefore, I’m not really impressed with the visuals. I guess this is how things are going to look like from now one so yeah. Nevertheless I’m really excited about the gameplay which looked very promising so far!

Looks good, I’ll have to buy my wife season 4 first, maybe a few mount skins when we get paid. I imagine she’ll really fall in love with GW2 once she sees what the game looks like other than at minimum settings. Honestly I’d play Hello Kitty Shopping Adventure the MMO with her at this point just so we could share some gaming experiences.

I’m all for a potentially darker, more serious story. Plus some story focus on the Norn for once.
