Megan Fox on what Black Desert can do for self-esteem
American actress Megan Fox is apparently a big fan of Pearl Abyss’ MMORPG Black Desert. She’s also big in Korean cinema now. The two have combined to make her a bizarrely perfect spokesperson for the game, and ahead of the game’s launch on PS4 this summer, she starred in a lengthy live-action trailer that saw her transform into the Sorceress in-game (a class that not coincidentally already looks exactly like her). In an interview, she even discussed the game as a tool for self-esteem and visualizing a desirable life.
According to Fox, playing Black Desert is not unlike a form of meditation — a way for people to visualize what they want for their real life. “You get to discover the qualities about yourself that you want to enhance,” says Fox in the video. “Maybe, at the moment, it’s something that’s only on the screen, but you can realize it’s something you can bring to life for real.” This especially extends to young girls in Fox’s mind, positing that playing Black Desert allows them to create a world where they feel comfortable and powerful.
