Guild Wars 2’s final End of Dragons beta begins today ahead of WvW test this weekend

Today’s a big day for Guild Wars 2 players: We’re getting the fourth and final End of Dragons beta event, with all nine elite specs opened up for testing on the live servers in addition to the siege turtle this afternoon. This leg of the event runs through the evening of December 4th, and yes, even freemium players can check it out.

But that’s not all that’s in store for players this week: The team is also targeting this weekend for the kick-off of the delayed WvW beta. It starts December 3rd and runs through the 10th, though players will be choosing their sides starting today, and the team will be conducting a pre-test over the next few days.

“Between November 30 and December 2, we’ll be running an at-scale ‘in the background’ pre-test of the World Restructuring system using live player data. This test should not have an impact on your WvW experience, unless things break, in which case we’d roll back the changes immediately. On the back end, during this test World Restructuring will be fully enabled and we’ll be using it to matchmake players into the exact teams they’re already assigned to in the existing World Linking system. Again, you shouldn’t notice a difference in your current match up. It’s a nifty way to test matchmaking and team assignments before the beta starts at WvW reset on Friday. When the beta begins on Friday, players will be matchmade into new teams.”

Finally, all four chapters of the Icebrood Saga’s Champions episode are returning as freebies today as the finale for the living world return event, so you can pick up Truce, Power, Balance, and Judgment if you missed them during their first go-round.

Update
The patch notes are up! Do note that the devs have clarified that the new face and hair will be accessible at character creation, not just through the makeover kits.

“In preparation for End of Dragons, additional face and hair options have been added for all playable species. These are available through character creation or Total Makeover Kits. Total Makeover Kits can be purchased in the Utility category of the Gem Store. Three new hair and face options have been added for charr, norn, asura, and sylvari characters. Four new hair options and six new faces have been added for human characters.”
