Villagers & Heroes posts patch notes for the Grinchta’s Lair update while its launch is delayed by certification

The release timing for the latest content drop from Villagers & Heroes has run into a bit of a SNAFU. According to a quick video update from Mad Otter Games’ president and co-founder Damon Slye, players can effectively blame Google for the update’s delay thanks to a failed certification process.

According to Slye, the build that was sent to Google was rejected because it was causing crashes despite internal and external testers finding no problems, and once a build is rejected, it gets into “a bad state where [the company] can’t upload a new build.” The devs are talking to Google to try and get it fixed and are working on getting an update to their build machine’s OS to ultimately re-send the update. A timeline for when the rigamarole will be cleared isn’t tied down, but Slye promises that he’s working on it.

In the meantime, the update’s patch notes are live to grant players a look at what to expect when things clear between Mad Otter and Google. Features include the seasonal event zone that gives the update its name complete with new Christmas rewards, updates to certain raid mechanics, a new frontier zone to explore, and fixes to address fabled gear drop rates and performance in the Fungal Caverns of Basido, among other things.
