At the tail end of January, we reported on the WWII FPS Enlisted’s plans to launch into Steam early access, complete with a new name of Enlisted: Reinforced and all of the various feature updates the shooter got on other platforms. That launch was supposed to happen today, March 29th, but Gaijin Entertainment has elected to suspend the release indefinitely as a result of some community and technical problems.
“We see that many of you are very dissatisfied with the Early Access version that we made available on Steam. Some of you are not happy that the game is bundled with a paid DLC on Steam. Some of you couldn’t link your existing Gaijin.Net accounts to the Steam version due to technical issues. We’re deeply sorry for this.”
The larger reason for the de-listing, according to Gaijin, is “a significant technical obstacle” that prevents linking Steam and Gaijin player accounts from running smoothly, particularly in the case of email addresses not matching up between accounts. The Steam edition of Enlisted will remain de-listed until further notice, while those who already bought in will be allowed to play the game via Steam as a result.
Of course, most Steam users are slapping Enlisted with negative reviews for being charged $20 to access an otherwise free-to-play FPS on the platform, especially since the PC version of the game can be downloaded directly from its own website. It’s an overall bad start for an otherwise eager launch.
