Dark and Darker Mobile debuts a new trailer and promises ‘several new ways to play’

“Do you have any games on your phone?” the young boy asks, eyes hopeful and face wearing a friendly smile.

“Why yes, little Joey, I do,” I reply just as warmly. “I have a grim and dark extraction RPG known as Dark and Darker Mobile where you have to leave a terrifying dungeon with as much treasure as you can in a twisted spin on how humanity tries to gain material goods while fighting the ever-encroaching despair of the modern age until our ultimate and inescapable end.”

If that setup sounds grim, it’s only because we’re following the lead of the new trailer out of the mobile title, which grants a cinematic look at the dark setting of the multiplayer RPG. PR attached to this new video heralds “several new ways to play” for the mobile edition, including an endgame that focuses on challenging high-level dungeons, separate PvE and PvP dungeon delves, and a sidekick system that lets players bring an AI partner into the depths with them.

On top of these features, players can look forward to five classic classes, each of which can only have two active skills but can unlock an increasing number of passives as classes level up. Otherwise, the gameplay loops are similar to its early access PC version: get into a dungeon, grab the loot, and get out ASAP. DAD Mobile (there’s an acronym for you) is planning a launch sometime at the end of this year.

“…I was… kind of hoping for something like–”

“Life is suffering, lil guy.”
