It’s a bit funny to think that for all the tech far more advanced than our own, Star Wars: The Old Republic not only takes place in the distant past but the distant past of the distant past. It’s long ago in a galaxy far, far away, after all. But the most recent patch is indeed modernizing Nar Shadda, which starts with better-looking slot machines. That’s not to say they’re going to look like the video slot machines at your nearest casino, but it does mean they’re going to look better. Modernization is a spectrum.

The patch also addresses a number of issues with the Basilisk prototype venture and the Dantooine Spring Abundance festival while it kicks off the Nar Shadda Nightlife event. And there are a number of assorted bug fixes, display issues corrected, and the like in the patch. While it’s not a major content update, it should have enough packed in to make the game’s four-hour maintenance this morning feel worthwhile.
