Now this is the kind of “living in a van down by the river” that I can get behind: Outbound has officially funded on Kickstarter.
The co-op multiplayer “cozy camper-van exploration-crafting game” (CCVECG?) pulled in €265,679 (around $293,000 US) as of its Kickstarter campaign completion this afternoon, breezing past its €30,000 ($33,154 US) goal many times over thanks to around 5200 backers. (The numbers are still in flux as we type this thanks to the late-pledge options.)
Outbound literally sets players to the cozy survival task of gathering crafting materials, cooking, hunting for power, and “transform[ing] your vehicle into your dream home with unique furnishings and decorations.” Kickstarter funders and community members managed to unlock every single stretch goal and “achievement” on the list, including camping, fishing, kites, beekeeping, companions, minigames, and character customization.
Studio Square Glade is gunning for alpha in the first half of next year, beta in the back half, and release in 2026.
