War Thunder brings new and updated vehicles, map updates, and a 2024 roadmap in Dance of Dragons patch

Last week War Thunder took the wraps off of its next major update, stating that it was headed for release this month. That release timing ended up being “this week” as the Dance of Dragons update went live this past Tuesday.

The new content patch brings another suite of vehicles to the military battler, headlined by the addition of two new modern Chinese fighter jets alongside new squadron ground vehicles and the initial testing of French coastal ships.

There’s more than just additional vehicles to blow up (or get blown up by), with multiple updates to existing maps and missions, some UI updates like a new menu for secondary weapons, custom sights for modern tanks, and improved damage models for helicopters that take into account specific function and part damage. All of the nitty-gritty can be found in the changelog.

Last but not least, Gaijin Entertainment has put together a roadmap of future updates for the rest of this year, including a rework for APHE shells, research bonuses for new nations, updates to existing game mechanics, and new social features like public squads and customizable player cards. That roadmap can be seen just below the video; click the image for a larger view.
