We obviously are about MMORPGs, MMOs, and multiplayer gaming here at MOP, but as we’ve demonstrated before, we’re not averse to highlighting games that at least run tangentially to our favorite genres. That’s why we’re sharing this new one: It’s called Sil and the Fading World and it effectively sees solo players taking on MMO raid bosses in ARPG combat.
“Battle against fearsome raid bosses alone! Uncover your past in Aritas, a sinister world ravaged by ancient Gods of the Realm Below. This ARPG features 9 class specializations, hundreds of unique items, a vast array of skills, complex character progression, and intense Raidboss encounters.”
Sil comes to us from indie studio IceCrack Games, which explains in an FAQ how the title was inspired by games like Path of Exile, Diablo, and World of Warcraft. That same FAQ also confirms that this will be a single-player only title, with a demo planned for sometime in the fall and early access sometime in 2025.
Gameplay itself appears to walk some expected territory for ARPGs in general, with nine class specializations, over 110 legendary and heirloom-level items, the promise of “countless” unique skills and affinities, and over 30 quests and side quests associated with facing off against the game’s big smashy raid fights. Those fights also appear to follow some familiar hallmarks as well, with a whole lot of damaging effects to dodge and telegraphs to read, as evidenced in the video below.
