There’s going to be some time between now and when alpha 4.0 arrives to Star Citizen. So what are players supposed to do in the meantime? Why, defend the Stanton system from a sudden onset of pirate attacks, which is precisely what the Save Stanton event is all about.
Between now and whenever alpha 4.0 goes live, players are encouraged to join in on a series of “narratively rich missions” that involve halting pirate attacks and discovering clues about what is happening in the process. The event is currently in its first phase, Chaos in the Spacelanes, which tasks players with protecting a cargo vessel and finding other lost haulers.
Other details shared in a related FAQ confirm that the event will only occur once, that players can join in on mission series late, and that rewards will be handed out provided players participate in all stages of the event, which include some unique ship weapons.
This new event, on top of the upcoming Intergalactic Aerospace Expo event that starts on Friday, November 22nd, should ideally be enough distraction while 4.0 gets worked on. Just don’t think too hard about when it will arrive and enjoy the bread and circus.
