The long and hard work of getting Marvel Heroes back into a functional state for emulator runners pushes forth, as the 0.4.0 version of the game’s files have come out with the return of some vital gameplay features – as in, features that literally make the game worth playing in the longer term.
Specifically, the variety of loot updates that were discussed in a previous post have come online alongside a feature-complete implementation of the MMOARPG’s mission system, bringing all of the story missions from prologue to chapter 10, side missions, shared missions, region events, dailies, and weeklies back from the shadow zone. The volunteer devs were even able to get vendors functioning again.
The progress report also alludes to a focus for its next major build, which will look towards moment-to-moment gameplay experiences like better enemy AI, reinstating buffs and debuffs (aka conditions), and the achievement system. With that said, the post does note that updates may be a bit slower in coming as “a certain event on the 6th […] will hold the attention of many ARPG fans” including the emu’s devs. As usual, GitHub houses the latest files for emu operators.
