Yes, having eight developers working on the slowly rebuilding Fractured Online is not a lot, but considering this game had three unpaid workers at a previous point, we’d say this is some progress forward for Happy Cauldron Games, which posted the good news in a Discord announcement this week.
“Our team has been growing, we are 8 people strong!” writes studio owner Duncan “TaNaHaRa” Davis. “The developers have been working tirelessly migrating to the new rendering pipeline, coherence backend and rebuilding old systems to support our new changes.”
Davis’ announcement further points to the efforts of a new art director and world designer, both of whom have been onboarded to the project; work by 2-D and 3-D artists to bring Kickstarter reward items into the game; and the continued work to transfer service over, which also includes a backend architecture redeployment that will “allow [Happy Cauldron] to refresh the server choices, upgrade some of our services and plan for a multi-region launch.”
There are some changes and additions to the MMO’s community team as well: Diaz and Esoteric will be stepping away from their roles as GMs, while a second Discord moderator is being added, and those who are joining as part of a “Wiki Team” are still under review. It should be noted here that these all read like volunteer positions, as Happy Cauldron promises it’s “taking a thoughtful approach when it comes to the structure of our volunteer teams.”
Finally, Davis has posted the latest update vlog on the MMO’s YouTube channel this time around, discussing the earlier mentioned updates and inviting players to tune in to a livestream on Tuesday, April 8th, when the team will discuss updates to Fractured’s game design, asset updates, and Kickstarter reward distribution.
