The Daily Grind: What MMO without mounts could really use ’em?

A while back on the Massively OP Podcast, Justin and I got to talking about Dungeons and Dragons Online’s then-newly-announced mounts and how funny it was that this game was one of the last mount holdouts, one of the last mid-to-top-tier MMOs that didn’t have mounts and still needed ’em. I didn’t say it out loud, but you can bet I thought it in my head: Ultima Online had mounts at launch in 1997, for crying out loud! Every MMO needs mounts, right? They’re fun! They satisfy the collection itch! They make us go fast! And yes, when monetized they help fund games!

Interestingly, we had a hard time coming up with an MMO that doesn’t have mounts, but surely there are a few out there that just aren’t quite springing to mind. MOP reader Furin came up with one biggun: Guild Wars 1! What other MMO without mounts could really use ’em?

Every morning, the Massively Overpowered writers team up with mascot Mo to ask MMORPG players pointed questions about the massively multiplayer online roleplaying genre. Grab a mug of your preferred beverage and take a stab at answering the question posed in today’s Daily Grind!
