While Dual Universe is still going to focus on refining and improving the current alpha 3 build of the voxelbox, the team at Novaquark is also hard at work on for features coming to the beta release later this year and has put together a video showcase of some of the things to come.

A number of new UI elements are in the works, including an offline notification system that lets players receive a series of alerts when they load the game and log back in. These alerts focus on a variety of things that happened when players logged off, and can be filtered down to things like PvP, industry, markets, and community notifications among others. There will also be improvements to the barter UI and the skills UI to make things easier to understand from a visual standpoint.

A couple of new items will be added for constructs in the form of a hatch, which does basically what a hatch is expected to do, and a single-voxel fuel intake, which also does what it’s expected to do but also could be used to hide extra switches behind it.

Finally, every planetary body in the game is getting overhauled thanks to some new tech that refines planet creation both through procedural generation and by manual adjustment. This tech allows planets to be changed in a variety of ways including at the tectonic plate level and the biome level. On the subject of biomes, there will be some new ones added as well including swamps, temple ruins, volcanoes, lakes, and ice caps.
