After nearly a full month since its initial 3.18 launch, Star Citizen is considering itself fully operational once again with the launch of alpha 3.18.1, which is both noted as “not a silver bullet” and heralded as a patch that has “a tremendous number of fixes” applied. As a result of this patch, the game’s status page has now shifted to operational across all fronts, with the latest update explaining that the issue is considered resolved unless new issues warrant opening a new incident list.
The same announcement that confirmed 3.18.1’s release also unveiled CIG’s plans to hold a free fly event from today, April 13th, through April 20th. The devs reason that this will introduce a necessary stress test to the game, particularly during peak population moments or events like May’s Invictus Launch Week. That said, the post also keeps the door open for a change in plans if the game starts to have problems once again.
Meanwhile, the March progress reports for both the persistent universe and Squadron 42 are online, recounting work on ships, space mines, salvage missions, and progress on the Arena Commander rework, among various other matters.
