Elder Scrolls Online restores accounts following its PTS bungle, hands out a Mountain Dew wolf

Do the Dewooooooo

Normally a public test of a muchanticipated update for Elder Scrolls Online is a happier occasion, but as readers know that’s not been the case with public testing of the Gold Road chapter and Update 42, which ended up screwing up player accounts in the live game. It looks as if ZeniMax Online Studios has worked things out and affected accounts have been restored as of April 25th.

ZOS outlined its plan earlier in the week in terms of its maintenance to the PC NA megaserver to bring affected accounts back to their snapshotted state from April 15th. After several hours of maintenance — and a brief takedown of the server — things were opened back up and accounts were unlocked. The studio even felt confident enough to start pushing its PTS build again.

Console players should already have gotten their apology goodie bag, while NA and EU PC players will be getting their package on Monday, May 6th. Affected players who were active subscribers will also get a month of sub time and 1650 crowns on May 6th as well.

All of this stress probably makes one thirsty, so maybe consider knocking back a Mountain Dew and getting yourself a sweet wolf mount in the process? Because there’s a promotion that hands out an XP scroll and a wolf mount after entering in a code that proves you bought the belch juice. If you’d rather spend your money on higher class things, then you can buy tickets right now to go to the in-person ESO Tavern event in Wasserburg Heldrungen — aka a literal castle — in Thuringia, Germany during the weekend of July 13th.
