For a select slice of the Baldur’s Gate 3 community, this fall’s Patch 7 will be the update they’ve been waiting for since the game launched. That’s because Larian Studios is introducing official modding support with the September patch, allowing players to tweak and customize this multiplayer game like never before.
“Whether you are a seasoned modder excited to continue developing mods for Baldur’s Gate 3 or you are new to the scene and want to try your hand at bringing your ideas to life, our new modding pipeline aims to provide a convenient way for players and creators alike to access and manage mods across all platforms Baldur’s Gate 3 is released on, with improved compatibility, tools, and documentation,” Larian said.
Seeing as how the modding community took BioWare’s old Neverwinter Nights games and turned them into pseudo-MMOs, this announcement contains exciting possibilities for our genre.
A closed alpha test for Patch 7 began yesterday, with a larger closed beta coming in July. Mod support will initially roll out to the PC, followed by the game’s other platforms.
