Before I dig into today’s Daily Grind, I want to make clear that I don’t seriously wish any MMOs had never been made, not that it would have any impact on anything if I did. Consider this an academic question, then, if you’re with me in not feeling up to being flamingly mean.
And while I bet the knee-jerk reply might be World of Warcraft, I’ve been wondering more what the industry would’ve looked like without EverQuest. WoW wouldn’t have launched so heavily EQ-ish. Maybe MMOs would’ve followed Ultima Online and Asheron’s Call more closely? But then, without SOE’s success, would Star Wars Galaxies have ever been greenlit?
Let’s be careful what we wish for: Is there an MMO you wish had never been made?
