If there’s one constant in the MMORPG genre, it’s the comforting knowledge that the EverQuest franchise is going to pump out two expansions in time for Christmas, every single year. So it is this year, and up first is EverQuest II, which has already been testing its Scars of Destruction expansion. Now, Daybreak has also opened preorders too.
As I type this on Tuesday morning, the Daybreak website is having some image loading problems, but you can still get to the preorder page, which clarifies what’s included in each bundle. The basic edition is around 35 bucks and includes a level 130 character boost and tundra fox pet, but of course, you can go all the way up to the $140 bundle for way more mounts and recipes and goodies, plus as usual there’s a “family and friends” version for $250 that offers a stack of tradeable boosts and multiple copies of the expansion. Notably for EverQuest II, past expansions are included with the newest one, so it’s easy to get caught up.
“Beta for the expansion has started today and will end once Scars of Destruction is ready to ship,” Daybreak reminds us. Beta players will be specifically testing petamorph key rings, weapon auras, new quests, new territory, and the new solo and raid content in Blackhook Spiral and Dragon Necropolis, all in exchange for a long list of tester rewards that range from familiars and menagerie marks to buffs and mission resets.
As is typical for Daybreak MMOs, the expansion is expected to go live in November, but the studio includes a caveat that clarifies it could be as long as December 31st. Video teaser ahoy!
