Destiny 2’s seasonal holiday Dawning event launches with a bunch of bugs in tow

Nobody likes to see things go wrong during the holidays, and that definitely includes the players of Destiny 2, who were diving in to the looter shooter’s returning Dawning event only to find several problems with some of its offerings.

One of the major problems was related to event weapons not dropping with double perks as intended. The issue was resolved a day later, but it didn’t stop fans from expressing their frustration, laying blame on layoffs at Bungie and referencing studio CEO Pete Parsons’ collection of classic cars in replies to the bug alerts.

Some other larger bugs persist with the update at the time of this writing, including broken cookie-baking triumphs on the event card and a couple of event quests that soft lock progress, both of which have workarounds involving using alternate characters.

As for the event itself, it reads like other seasonal events from years past in terms of activities involving handing out cookies to NPCs, taking on enemies in a snowball fight, and filling out the aforementioned event card (when players are capable of doing so, anyway). The major new reward for the affair is a new linear fusion rifle along with previous weapons from Dawnings past that feature new perks can also be collected, while the game’s cash shop features armor and ghost shells styled after dragons.
