If you haven’t been a big fan of some of the balance changes in City of Heroes Homecoming over the last few years, then you can officially destress right now because the patch we’re about to talk about doesn’t mess with balance too much.
Issue 28: Legacy, Page 3, officially hit the beta server last night, and it’s primarily content, along with a new powerset and some buffs to Masterminds.
The content comes in the form of a new Kallisti Wharf task force called The Golden Rule, intended for level 40-50 characters, and a new story arc, Death Resurrected, also for level 40-50 characters. There’s also a big expansion for the Labyrinth of Fog trial zone content introduced back during Page 1.
As for the new power set, that’s Sonic Melee, and it will land for Brutes, Tankers, Scrappers and Stalkers.
“Sonic Melee lets you use the power of sound waves to damage your foes with devastating close range sonic attacks that can inflict Migraines, debuffing their resistance to multiple debuffs, and holding foes for a short hold. This can be dramatically increased by using Sound Booster. With the ability to Attune your frequency to your target’s, your single target attacks can trigger powerful reverberating damage over time, helping you quickly bring enemies to their knees.”
Masterminds look to be getting an overall buff, as henchies now spawn even-level with the player, just note that hench stats and damage have seen balancing that should make them less damaging against lower mobs, more damaging against higher mobs, and more survivable overall. We’ll have to see whether the overall revamp is a net positive for non-endgamers in practice!
Badgers will be pleased to see that there’s a new badge-tracking UI panel in the game, plus you can pin your badge art to your personal info window, along with a few other QOL tweaks for badges and titles.
Builders, heads-up: “Base editor items have been reorganized and re-categorized,” plus we spy search QOL for you too.
Hardcore endgamers will also find that there are new high-end difficulty option for Incarnate content, so you can keep throwing yourselves against that.
You can go try it all yourself on the beta server.
