Destiny Rising launches new area, removes pinnacle energy, and tweaks gacha for mythic characters

The Season of Wishes has arrived to fans of the mobile shooter Destiny: Rising, and no, we don’t mean the Christmas season has arrived way too early, but one could certainly argue that it’s bringing some big presents for players both in terms of what it adds as much as what it removes.

One of the major additions is the opening of the Red Sea Rift area, which brings a new open world map to explore, three new dungeons to delve, the promise of secrets to uncover, and new public events to take on. There will also be a new Great Hunt raid opening on April 4th, which in typical Destiny fashion will be marked with a world first race for bragging rights and physical schwag.

As for those aforementioned removals, the shooter’s controversial pinnacle energy mechanic has now been removed wholesale, letting players play the game how they want without being forced into various mode as NetEase says the system was originally intended. The new season also marks the end of the gacha model for mythic characters, replacing it instead with dedicated events to unlock specific heroes, starting first with Efrideet.

The new season further brings on some new events, new exotic weapons including three that fans of Destiny 2 might be familiar with, new catch-up mechanics for those who are below the current season rank, new difficulties for Operation Cordon and The Expanse activities, and a few minor tweaks to characters and weapons.
