Make My MMO: Chronicles of Elyria's $900k goal (March 5, 2016)

Indie MMO Chronicles of Elyria announced this week that it's plotting a May Kickstarter with a $900,000 goal. The game is probably best known for its fairly original aging and death mechanics, which are tied into its business model.

Meanwhile, Star Citizen pushed alpha 2.2 live, Camelot Unchained passed its "send more programmers" stretch goal, City of Titans produced video of its "functional first pass" build, and AdventureQuest 3D joined our watch list with news of its planned October launch.

Read on for more on what's up with MMO crowdfunding this week and the roundup of all the crowdfunded MMOs we've got our eye on!

Other than Elite Dangerous I am hard pressed to think of one crowd sourced mmo that has successfully released yet .

As I said before this is one game development I will follow because their  plans and ideas  are interesting.

Wishing them all the luck and looking forward to read more about the game in the future  :)

Tying death to a business mechanic really just incentivizes killing you.

Mysk Needs (More) Coffee, Probably PaganRites Oh yeah.  I don't disagree.  They need millions to deliver.  Will be curious to see if people show up to fund this.

I'm sorry but fuck right off.

It's a big number, but as an MMO I think that it's a more realistic goal for what they're building. Maybe I'm the only one who thinks this though.
Anyway I'm off to bed. G'night, MOPsters! o/

I'm really interested in this game and will probably be throwing in on the Kickstarter, but $900k is a lofty goal.  Not too many games are getting that kind of funding due to some failures in the crowdfunding realm.  We'll see.  I like their ideas and wish them the best.

I think that the mechanic is really fascinating. There's much more to it than tick..tick..dead, yeah? Check their website.

Lethality A Dad Supreme I love your boundless optimism. After 10 years of tepid troll piss I'm disinclined to salute the next round, no matter what it says on the bottle. Worse yet, I might even have begun to acquire a taste for the stuff. But here's to you, and your half full glass.

Bannex19 Dude no kidding, in an MMO... hackers, bugs.... alpha and beta folks will need infinite death characters lol

A Dad Supreme That's because we've been cursed with static theme park worlds for 10+ years.
The new crop of evolving virtual worlds like this, Revival and even Star Citizen are slated to finally move us forward.

Death by old age is one mechanic I've never asked for in a video game.

I like this shot; it summarizes my trek through an MMO.
When you start out, you log in, look out into the world and see a wonder of possibilities.
After a few months, you log in, look out into this same world and wonder why you logged in today.
