Guild Wars 2 player finds himself trapped in the Super Adventure Box

On the other hand, you could just release this again.

Players in Guild Wars 2 have been eagerly awaiting the return of the Super Adventure Box content more or less since the moment it went away, but it seems to be in no hurry to return. But it’s still there, as one player found out unexpectedly when he logged into the game in the middle of the aforementioned box… with no way to get back out.

Well, not until a bit of running around trapped, anyhow. He eventually got out.

The short version is that the character was played on a free trial and was able to get in whilst the area was open, but was too low-level to exit once again. Whether it’s hilarious to think of someone trapped inside the Super Adventure Box with no way out or just sad that it’s still there but most players can’t see it is left as a thought exercise for the reader; you can view the character’s adventures in a video just below.

Nothing in the cash shop explicitly says the item is permanent. And, a lot of those items are tied to seasonal events. My Halloween costume doesn’t suddenly get locked after Halloween. But, according to you, I’d have no right to complain if it did. Arenanet relies on customers understanding that those things are permanent unlocks, without spelling it out.
Arenanet knew players would assume SAB was coming back – they relied on players making that assumption to sell that coin for 600 gems. They could have sold a temporary coin with a description that explicitly said that it was for the duration of the event only and then removed it from everyone’s inventory after the event. That would have been fair. But, they didn’t. And, then chose not to issue refunds. And, then they chose not to bring SAB back for a really long time. They deserve the criticism they get for that coin.

Enikuo Kalamari woolydub i’m not wrong. and i’m not defending GW2. i’m criticising the people who think they can demand things or make assumptions on their own with absolutely no evidence for it. there were no false advertising or promises made.

the coin did what it was made for, at the time the content was out. the player got what he paid for. and simply has not the right to demand a refund.

you are wrong! and everyone who thinks the same on this matter is wrong!
end of discussion for me now.

Kalamari Enikuo woolydub I didn’t buy it. And, I have quite a few SAB skins already. I don’t need to suffer from something to understand it was unfair.
You’re flat wrong, not matter how many words you CAPITALIZE at me.
It’s a legit complaint from players that did buy it. I don’t usually use these words, but defending GW2 on this particular issue crosses over into the realm of white-knighting and rabid fanboyism.

Enikuo Kalamari woolydub no it is not. in no way it was advertised as a “buy that coin and the SAB will come back”. it was advertised as “buy the coin and repeat the SAB content as long as it will stay.”
again: NOBODY said that SAB will ever come back at that point and everyone knew that it will go away after 2 weeks, what, at this time, was a totally normal schedule for GW2.
the coin fullfilled the perpuse it was bought for at the time you bought it!

period.

Aywren Considering how totally broken this guy said it all was, then yea, being stuck there kinda sucks. ANet wasn’t lying when they said their updates broke SAB and they’ll have to completely re-make it.

Skyewauker RiccardoTavano woolydub Seconds per account. How many accounts do they need to take those seconds on though? Millions? And that’s just to find out who deserves it, it doesn’t touch on the time it takes to do the fix for each of the millions of accounts.

I get where you’re coming from but in the end it adds up to to much work for to little of a purpose, and again something that’s unneeded.

woolydub And this guy just proved those statements. Read his reddit post. The world was broke as crap with hit boxes, movement, jumping, all off and broken.

Enikuo There was. People were using the teleport to friend item to port to him, but as they were above lvl 6 they would get kicked out upon arrival. WoodenPotatoes actually bought a EU account and had a toon below lvl 6 and was going to port in…… but the devs kicked the player out just before he attempted it.
