The Secret World continues Manufactory dungeon, increases gear cap

Hey, would you like a heap of The Secret World fixes and improvements today? Either way, you’re going to get them.

Update 12.5 is out, hauling with it a wagon-load of wendigo corpses, instances, and tweaked features. The tentpole additions include a continuation of The Manufactory dungeon and a nightmare version of the New York raid.

Players will also log in to find a new path in Argartha to nightmare raid portals, a reorganized skill UI, better search filters for cosmetics in the shop and auction house, more rewards for various dungeon and scenario bosses, and a bump in the gear cap to rank 11.

I notice there are more unlockable aux weapons: 2 more magic, 1 melee, 1 ranged – anyone know what they’ll be?
Otherwise, no, I didn’t really notice a ‘reorganized skill ui’ unless you mean they moved aegis to the bottom, that’s not much.  What am I missing?

Is it just me or is TSW the slowest loading game ever?  And if you’re silly enough to log off in London, so when you come in you have to load the game and THEN London (you know, the city with everything in it, unlike NY or especially Seoul) it takes a really long time…

Still one of the better CRPGs out there, but not much of an MMO.  Creative, leveless approach, astonishing voicework and cutscenes (truly, TSW made it impossible for me to enjoy GW2 until I actually put it into a different language so I couldn’t understand their horrible dialogue) that should win awards, so much potential for new stories, adventures, locations, housing, factions that matter, etc. all stuck to an engine that is about a decade old.

Line with more hugs I had no problem with the gear grind. I just liked the thought that there was an absolute ceiling, and that future progression would involve other systems, as it mostly has since launch.

fishtempura It seems to be some strange UI bug, happens in dungeons too. I’ve found that /reloadui will fix the issue until I respawn at which time I just need to do it again.

ok, the pvp is pretty much unplayable right now. I don’t know what happened, but the fps dropped so drastically that I can’t even see players move whereas before the patch I could see 10 ppl spamming impairs at once. ugh…

tobascodagama Greaterdivinity Considering they previously promised it would never go over 10.5..? nope.

crawlkill Yeah, I’m with you. I hate the increase and I hate it even more because we were told that TSW wasn’t that kind of game and that it wouldn’t happen. AEGIS was the “next” PvE system and now that’s all just an absolute mess that shouldn’t be in the game if they’re gonna just power-creep gear anyway.
The bigger issue is that “green QL10.0” was a really awesome baseline for the game. It ensured a good mix of accessibility and accomplishment. Now baseline is moving to the previous top of 10.4 while leaving a lot of more casual players out of the loop. They’re making the game both more casual and more hardcore at the same time and that simply doesn’t work.

Wratts Yep. They haven’t destroyed the game quite yet, but they will soon enough. /sigh

Motodew crawlkill Wow, no.
This is gear going to 11. Literally.
This isn’t for skills, though you may have to increase skills to get to 11?
This is a gear creep that we were promised would never happen. AEGIS was 2.0 PvE progression… now we have both and neither seem thought out further than “give people more”. That’s a problem.

crawlkill I was confused about this as well.  The increase to 11 is for your skills that you use skill points for (hit the N key).  It has nothing to do with upgrading your gear or talismans.   Still a grind but it is the overall skill of your weapons and talismans, not the gear :)

Huh?
The game has always been a gear grinder.
The only reason it was stuck for a while (and probably will be in the future) is because it’s not working well and Funcom is going belly up sooner rather than later.
