Sea of Thieves is getting a comic book treatment

Every pirate needs some good reading material for those long ocean voyages, assuming that they can read. And now, for the literate and illiterate alike, a Sea of Thieves comic book series is coming for the discriminating adventurers.

The comic series is being written by Jeremy Whitley and drawn by Rhoald Marcellius and will arrive in stores and online during the game’s launch month of March 2018. It shouldn’t be confused with the game’s official art book, which is being handled by Dark Horse Comics.

Titan Comics says that the comic will be appropriate for all ages: “In Titan Comics’ brand-new series, follow two competing crews of pirates, bound by a shared past and a single destiny, as they sail the Sea of Thieves in a race to track down an ancient treasure. Along the way they’ll deal with undead hordes, devious traps and their own bitter rivalries, but which crew will emerge victorious and ultimately claim the legendary loot?”

Whats there is fun, but I personally felt like this was designed for 12 year olds.

Ooooo art style looks adorables, me likes…although “for all ages” means there won’t be any pirate-proper cussing?

I expect a secret of monkey island vibes, please be true please be true…

Ooookay teens throwing up on each other sounds like a respectable form of friday evening entertainment, but I resent the classification “for all ages” in regards to that :P

oh i see the comic is “all ages” tbh most comics are including deadpool

it’s kind of why i rolled my eyes at the social media meme demanding it be rated R when in the comics aside from teh odd comic art decapitations he has done its’ generally pretty tame. lol.

unless they’re explicitly adult oriented comics which do happen and tend to “really make the most” out of that, often in over the top ways XD

I have to hand it to this game and the devs, they know exactly what kind of game they want to make and they are making it. Their enthusiasm and the quirky details make it seem kind of appealing. I don’t care for PvP, but this isn’t a game where xxGankLordxx picks on you and kills you because you’re 20 levels lower and were unlucky enough to be online when he is.

This actually looks kinda fun, but I think it’s predicated on having a good group or guild to play with.

I think it’s a game that should be approached with – I don’t care if I lose I’m here to have fun. With that attitude, PUG hijinks are something to look forward to not worry about.

People have such trouble with pvp because everything thinks they need to be good. Embrace your badness and have fun.

Only if the game makes losing fun. In ArcheAge it felt like I was murdered by a psychopath.

I die in most of my World of Tanks matches, but it is fun. You can’t be ganked in a 16×16 tank battle.

Could be…but there has to be some ganking in piracy. Real piracy is essentially real life ganking.

ARRRGH! THE TREASURE IS MINE! ALL MINE ARRRGH!!!!

*looks at One-Eyed Pete who just shrugs*
It says, “$2.50 to open this here box? What ‘n hell’s blazes?”
*Pete looks down, kicks some sand around with his worn boot*

haven’t heard any mention fromt eh developers of any MTs at all. have to ask sorenthaz if they’ve mentioned DLC post launch or not.

anyways the game is hella fun with a friend or 3 or decent solo, and has a lot of nice details, but is a bit lackign in variety of things atm.

dk I invite you to look at your closest calendar. Ah, yes what is this? I bet it says, “Year of Oure Lourde Two Thousand and Eighteen”

This being a fact nothing is off the table until the game is released and out a month or so. Developers can say whatever they like – as my old Auntie Mary used to say, “presumed a dirty, filthy liar until they prove otherwise”. No not that Mary, the one with the bad leg. Yes, the one who could predict snow.

yeah i hear ya. but i think ms and rare are well aware that putting lockboxes into the game or silly MTs would tarnish this game’s ability to be the windows store’s killer app.

and that’s what MS wants more than anything right now – is a killer app to get people buying from teh windows store (and more importantly using the windows store in general – i know i’m far from alone in removing it from my task bar along with edge shortly after installing firefox)

i think for that reason alone MS is going to be extremely conservative in monetizing the game beyond the $60usd price point. which barring any big expansion in beta seems a bit high for what is there now/what they’ve said will be there at launch.

anyways preordered last night. buying off the windows store is not the most fluid experience in terms of stores but at least when it sent me to paypal it opened in firefox and not edge LOL

MS has never been above being a piece of shit. They invented being a piece of shit in the software world. They are likely missing their seat at the table as king of shitheads.

eh outside of a few naggles their xbox monetization and other game monetization as a publisher has never been anywhere near bad.

and they are probably above board on supporting small guys as long as they use their ecosystem (ie windows or xbox) far more than apple or linux distros.

i really wish this game wasn’t a windows store exclusive but i can see why and don’t hold it against them unless i am going to hold it against any other game company for first party sales only when bought online. which plenty of them do in far worse and shittily spun fashion than MS has done.

and MS hasn’t been their buy out the little guy with a competitive product to kill it paradigm since the 90s. the companies they’ve bought since then they’ve done alot ot develop those technologies even if not in the most useful fashion (see the kinect which would be a great anciliary HID on pc or for smart tvs and was largely wasted on xbox).

in games and software in general you can do alot worse than MS really. and they seem in no mood to compete with the others on their race to the bottom the last several years in particular.
