Funcom is up to some stuff today. Over in Conan Exiles, the Pets Update is live, or rather half of it is live, and it’s not the half with pets, and it’s only on PC for now. OK, let me start that over: Midnight Grove, the thrall hunger system, and the new Jhebbal Sag religion are live. Pets themselves are coming next week.
The thrall hunger system is probably the most interesting bit. “As part of this update we’re rolling out thrall hunger, which requires you to feed your thralls in order to keep them alive,” Funcom explains. “The objective of this is to add nuance and flavor, not grinding.” It’s sort of like feeding a small house pet when you’re on vacay: “Food dispensers (Thrall Pot for thralls and Feedbox for pets) will push smaller amounts of food to each companion before moving onto the next companion. The net result of this is that all your companions will be more equally fed and you’ll need smaller amounts of food to reach them all.”
Do note that modders might need to disable nameplates to get it all working properly.
Meanwhile, the company posted new footage of Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden, which isn’t strictly multiplayer but will probably interest Funcom fans specifically.
Finally, if Secret World Legends is more your speed, players are hosting a Monster Mash Masquerade on October 20th!
“Announcing the Monster Mash Masquerade, taking place Saturday, October 20th, at 1800 UTC in the Albion Ballroom, hosted by Nine Swords and DJ Drina of Happy Tentacle radio. This is an open community event, an opportunity to get together, show off your awesome costumes, dance, and win container keys (and probably more) in a trivia contest! Come celebrate the Samhain/Halloween season with us!”
