Now that we’ve ticked off all the Harry Potter fans and the Lord of the Rings fans and confused the Star Wars fans, the good news is this: Harry Potter Wizards Unite has apparently already launched for some players in some regions. It was intended to launch tomorrow, but it’s in the wild right now, and as MOP’s Andrew Ross has confirmed for us, folks are already in and playing. “It’s out!” he says. “You can use pics of yourself in your profile, make a wand, join a house, from the start!”
Niantic, best known for its wildly popular MMOARG Pokemon Go (which itself was preceded by the groundbreaking Ingress), first announced the title back in 2017 as a mobile multiplayer augmented reality title, right around the time we started calling it “hipwoo.” The game spent two months in beta in Oceania, but this week it rolls out to the rest of the world.
