All of Daybreak’s true MMORPGs have now weighed in post-layoffs: The most recent confirmation that everything’s OK with the EverQuest franchise team comes in the form of a new producer letter from the classic EverQuest team as it teases the Torment of Velious expansion still on track to launch before the end of the year. The expansion is expected to include “a level increase from 110 to 115 with new spells and AAs, gear, and content with 6 new zones, and quests, raids and more.”
Pre-orders are launching on October 23rd, Daybreak says; pre-ordering will indeed get you into the beta, which likewise launches next week. There’s also going to be a “family and friends” bundle with tradable mounts, a tradeable character boost, and the Gnomish Legendary bundle with some themed gear, a mount, a 40-slot bag, and a pair of shared experience potions. Daybreak says people have been begging for this kind of package.
“The bundle is set at a high price point but is a good deal as a package overall. We made it because we’ve been asked for this type of package for years and wanted to try it out for those players who have multiple accounts, play with families, guildmates who support friends, and others. It’s an experiment and we’re interested to see where you go with it as players.”
Finally, the studio confirmed a new progression server for subbers called Miragul. The hook? “You start as a Level 85 Heroic Character with live server experience rates, and all the trappings of a server that starts with a level cap of 90 with in-game housing, loads of raids, over 800 AAs, and more.”
While we know TOV is coming in December, we still don’t know exactly when. “We’ll firm up the final launch date as we get closer,” Daybreak promises.
