At this point, it might be easier to just write a post on the companies that are going to attend this year’s Game Developer Conference in San Francisco, as most of the bigs have all backed out. The latest? Blizzard, which has cited coronavirus concerns as its motive.
“Blizzard will no longer attend this year’s @Official_GDC due to growing concerns related to COVID-19. The health and well-being of our teams is our highest priority,” the studio tweeted. “The conference is and has always been an important event for our developers, so we look forward to participating in the future.”
Earlier today, we reported on CCP Games’ decision to cancel its April EVE Fanfest in Iceland. As of yesterday, however, GDC showrunners maintained that the March event would still continue on, in spite of the exit of companies including Amazon, Epic Games, Facebook, and Microsoft.
