Phantasy Star Online 2 can be pre-loaded now for the open beta

The open beta for Phantasy Star Online 2 is finally arriving in North America at 9:00 p.m. EDT on March 17th. But you don’t have to wait that long to get the game downloaded and ready to go, because you can pre-load for the open beta right now on your Xbox One. You can also stare at your PC and feel a bit sad because you can not pre-load on PC, as no testing or launch details have yet been announced for that platform, but hey.

Open beta testing will include three years of content, with fully localized voices and English text for everything from story missions to Live Stage Events. There are four races and nine classes available to play, and the game is going to offer all of the most recent balancing updates so that it will not lag behind the Japanese version in that respect. So if you’re one of the closed beta participants who can’t wait to play or just look forward to the open test, get that pre-load going now.

Yet again it appears to be region locked (some of us do not want to change our Xbox region) really sad when they think Western is US only.

Lol that sounds like a YOU problem. Because it takes 40 seconds for you to change to united states region click restart now and then click on the store to download Pso2 because I done it. Why should I wait for UK release when I can switch my xbox settings with no hassle LOL

But it isn’t a Western test or release right now. This is the North American release and test.

You can also do what the poster below said. Briefly change your region settings to US, download the game, and then change the region settings back. Supposedly the game itself won’t actually be IP blocked as far as playing so it’s just downloading it to begin with that’s the issue.

You only very briefly have to change the settings, get the game and change them back.

What’s sad to me is that it’s Xbox only to start. I need the PC version :D I just don’t like playing games with console controllers at all. I know I’d probably get used to it eventually, but I don’t really want to. I also don’t want to play an online game without a keyboard for chatting.

I know a lot of people are into voice chat but I’m into keyboard chatting. I don’t even like hearing others chat while I’m playing a game much less partake in it much. I only use voice chat with people I know already in real and even then don’t like listening to them that much haha :D

The game already works on PC, PS4 and the Switch in Japan. The Xbox was the only platform that needed the testing. Microsoft wants to get a big bump in Xbox sales before they release it on PC which could be a month later.

Hope it’s just a month. Would be stupid as heck to keep the rest of the Western market closed off from PSO2 just to push Xbox One sales.

How about you just buy an xbox and stop being so cheap

Ah yes, brilliant logic.

PSO 2 has been available on PC since 2012 and on PS4 since 2016.

In English since 2012?

Technically if you consider the unofficial translation patch. A rough version had come out pretty quickly.

Where the console players at to wave it at the PCMR faces that they get to pre-load ahead of anyone else? 😆
