It’s almost always about vehicles and spaceships in Star Citizen as we’ve said a few times before, but some of the latest news out of the developing sandbox is especially about vehicles and spaceships.

Firstly, this week’s Star Citizen Live broadcast featured the Vehicle Experience Team to answer questions about the operation of vehicles in the Persistent Universe. One of the highlights from the Q&A included insight into metrics to determine which ships are overpowered, noting that the devs are working towards a time-to-kill butter zone but also pointing out that many important features to get to this point aren’t added yet or are placeholder. These features include components, the revamp of countermeasures as well as shields, multi-crew repair mechanics, and procedural damage. Ultimately, combat balance isn’t the focus for alpha.

Finally, the Intergalactic Aerospace Expo for 2020 has gotten a number of new details, including dates for manufacturer displays with over 100 ships to fly over the course of the event. As usual, the game will be free-to-play for the duration of the in-game expo, and the Top Gear-like Whitley’s Guide program will be back once more, with further antics from Jax “Not-Clarkson No Really” McCleary. The event runs from November 20th to December 2nd.
