Considering that respecs in Star Trek Online can cost you actual money, you wouldn’t think that anyone would be upset at getting them for free… but when they’re mandatory respecs coming time and again, you can perhaps understand why player reaction might be an exhausted sigh. Players weren’t very happy about the idea that this week’s update to the game would require another respec, and the designers even announced that fact with a resigned apology.
Fortunately for players who have no desire to re-allocate skill points once again, the patch has been delayed in the hopes that the issue can be sorted out to avoid another mandatory respec. The plan is still to release the patch this week, as the team thinks the problem has been found and can be addressed. Still, the important point is that the patch will not go live with a mandatory respec, so you can at least be free of the pain of a free respec yet again.
We've determined that the build going to PC tomorrow will cause players to have to retrain their skills, again. We understand how unacceptable this is and apologise. The team is looking into it right now to figure out why this keeps happening, and if it's a larger issue.

We've managed to cancel the update tomorrow, so there won't be a need to respec. We think we have the issue figured out and a fix can be deployed this week. More info to come.
