Torghast isn’t too hard for what the developers had intended in World of Warcraft, but it is too hard for how players had actually been playing it. That’s been the important takeaway that developers have learned according to a new interview with game director Ion Hazzikostas. While the original plan was to have layers of Torghast scale up and not necessarily have players clear all of them on a regular basis, it turns out that players aren’t approaching them that way and it’s creating some real disconnection between what was planned and how players want the content to work.
The result is a batch of changes to the tower which will generally lower the scaling and make runs faster and easier to complete, moving closer to what players expect for content rather than the initial design plan. This is also meant to make things more approachable for players in underperforming specs rather than just tanks or healers. It’s a starting point rather than an ending point, but hopefully it should make climbs up the tower faster and less annoying.
