The Daily Grind: What’s the oldest MMORPG character you still play?

Every year or so we’ll do a conversation topic about the oldest MMO we still play. But realistically, the same couple of MMOs always come up, and it’s not the most interesting discussion. Old things are old.

But MOP reader Doug gave us some great inspiration in a tweet the other day about his oldest characters. That one is much more likely to be all over the place. For example, I don’t even own my very oldest MMORPG characters anymore, since I sold my original UO account a million years ago now. And with so many MMOs sunsetted, a lot of my toons are simply inaccessible. I’ve started over with them on rogue servers, but they are definitely not the same. Even so, for me it’s probably my disco archer in Ultima Online, whom I rolled on a new UO account at some point between DAOC and WoW. She’s still around, and I do play her every year or so when I go back.

So let’s go that route this week! What’s the oldest MMORPG character you still play, and what game is it in?

Every morning, the Massively Overpowered writers team up with mascot Mo to ask MMORPG players pointed questions about the massively multiplayer online roleplaying genre. Grab a mug of your preferred beverage and take a stab at answering the question posed in today’s Daily Grind!
