Tuesday, April 11th, will kick off the Festival of Legends expansion for Hearthstone, and the digital card game is celebrating its arrival with an event between April 18th and May 2nd that lets players complete quests and earn rewards like four signature cards, a signature pack, and Festival of Legends pack. The expansion’s launch is also heralding the Year of the Wolf, which will usher in standard rotation changes, a total of 70 cards being swapped in the game’s core set, and a refreshed rewards track.

Meanwhile, the current patch to the CCG makes changes to signature cards that prevents them from being duplicated and allows them to be disenchanted, along with a number of balance adjustments to targeted cards, minion cards, and duels cards. The beginning of the month has otherwise kicked off the new ranked season for April, with a new Tranquility card back cosmetic to earn for five wins, though many players are calling out how similar it looks to the previous Playing Koi card back.

Activision-Blizzard is considered a controversial gaming company owing to a long string of scandals over the last few years, including the Blitzchung boycott, mass layoffs, labor disputes, and executive pay fiasco. In 2021, the company was sued by California for fostering a work environment rife with sexual harassment and discrimination, the disastrous corporate response to which compounded Blizzard’s ongoing pipeline issues and the widespread perception that its online games are in decline. Multiple state and federal agencies are investigating the company as employees unionize and call for Bobby Kotick’s resignation. As of 2023, the company is being acquired by no less than Microsoft.
