WoW Classic Season of Discovery’s next phase includes Gnomeregan raid, but no more GDKP runs

Oh look, quick development.

The next phase for WoW Classic’s Season of Discovery servers is imminent, and Blizzard is sharing some — but not all — of the changes and additions coming to this experimental ruleset.

Phase Two’s marquee attraction is a reworked Gnomeregan raid dungeon that will be accessible when players reach the new level cap of 40. “Gnomeregan will be a 10-player raid dungeon consisting of six bosses–which includes one additional new boss,” Blizzard explained. “Each of the previous five bosses have been redesigned to present new challenges within the raid dungeon. This dungeon will also introduce a new world buff.”

The undated patch also includes new “skill books” to increase character abilities without taking up a rune slot. And yes, there will be tons of new discoverable runes in the world as well as a new PvP event called The Blood Moon in Stranglethorn Vale.

It’s also notable that WoW Classic is putting the kibosh on GDKP runs on these servers: “We are experimenting with a new policy which will no longer allow GDKP runs in Season of Discovery. While we understand that there are some benefits for those who find this a convenient way to gain gear, we also recognize that there are concerns surrounding the erosion of traditional guild and social structures that are a part of the spirit of Season of Discovery.”
