There are enough multiplayer shooters out there to have some fly under the radar, which has arguably been the case for the MMOFPS Stalcraft, a game that started life as a mod that combines Minecraft, S.T.A.L.K.E.R., and multiplayer gameplay elements before ballooning into its own free-to-play title over the course of a 10 year-long development track. However, considering the game’s latest update is being classified as an overhaul – with a new name to match – this is kind of like we’re reporting on an all-new game.
For those who are unfamiliar, Stalcraft can be described as a super-deformed version of Tarkov, with players exploring the dangers of the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone, engaging in FFA PvP and PvE questing. We reported this one as part of a roundup of MMOs You’ve Never Heard Of in 2023.
The newly rechristened Stalcraf: X is the culmination of a year’s worth of development by studio EXBO as well as “a bright transitional point in the history of the project.” The massive update brings on things like a new northern territory to explore, new factions, redesigned movement, personal shelters, new gameplay mechanics like outpost capturing for PvP and highlighted mutant territories, a graphics update, and a suite of balance and economy updates.
EXBO concludes its immense update notice with several words of thanks to its longtime playerbase and the promise that more additional features for Stalcraft: X are planned like 1v1 tournament battles and new open world base capturing mechanics.
