Jagex is continuing to work on improving the client for Old School RuneScape, though it has been some time since the studio checked in with a progress report. That changed this week as an update post offered some previews of new updates and features that will be applied to the game client sometime in the future.

Updates that are being worked on include new HD and SD visual modes for PC and mobile alongside related performance improvements, updates to the game’s plugin API, and several more mobile-specific UI updates. On top of these, other updates are coming “very soon,” including bank tags, minimenu changes, the ability to view high scores, and menu entry swapping options.

Of course, all of these updates does mean the legacy Java client is being deprecated, starting with its removal from the game’s Jagex Launcher, followed by the hard requirement for players to create a Jagex account to access the game at all.

As for the MMORPG’s weekly patch, that’s focused on making player-requested adjustments to Deadman: Armageddon mode like monster drops, weapon effects, and warning messages. The patch has also made further tweaks to the While Guthrix Sleeps quest, including a new teleport consumable reward to earn, an easier way to see how many demons can be fought in each room, and updates to quest items.
